Viewers all saying the same thing as Tommy Tiernan returns for Christmas special on RTE

Anyone who tuned into RTE on Monday evening was left delighted as everyone's favourite chat show returned for a one-off special.

The Tommy Tiernan Show was back on our screens, with the Navan comedian once again leaving viewers fascinated by his chats with his guests.

If you've never seen an episode, we urge you to go binge them before going back to work next week.

Tommy is never informed of who his guests are - he only finds out about it when the curtain is pulled back and the interviewee strolls out onto the stage.

Monday's Christmas special was no different and those who flicked on to watch took to social media to heap praise on the show.

First up was John Spillane, who gave a brilliant insight into writing music and his process of doing so while travelling.

Next came the head of the Religions Department and Chair of Equality Board at UCC, Amanullah De Sondy (and part-time Wimbledon umpire!)

He explained the many challenges he and his family had faced and his worries about Ireland's problem with racism.

Last up was the legendary civil rights leader Bernadette McAliskey.

But NONE of them were as shocking for some viewers as seeing Tommy without his iconic beard!

"Eh, Tommy, you shaved 10 years off ya" said one user,

"Tommy without the beard? Must be for Da Gerry!" added a second, referencing Tommy's character in Derry Girls.

"Tommy looks very young without his beard. Looking forward to this! " noted a third, with another agreeing, saying: "I feel uncomfortable watching #TommyTiernanShow without his beard, boy is naked."

It whet the appetite for the full time return of Tommy's show, with the first episode of the new series airing on Sunday January 8.
