Vienna Blood season 2 - what we know so far about the show's return to BBC

Vienna Blood is returning for another thrilling season on BBC Two and it may be coming sooner than you think.

The series is best known for providing psychological insights into the motives for murder.

The show is based on novels written by Frank Tallis, that follow a family in their journey of discovery.

Vienna Blood received a 53% critics rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with the consensus saying: 'Though it rarely rises above 'watchable,' fans of period crime series may enjoy passing time with Vienna Blood's charismatic cast anyway.'

Media ratings varied from three out of five stars to a full five out of five stars.

What is the plot of Vienna Blood season two?

The plot will follow a brilliant young English doctor, Max Liebermann (Matthew Beard), and Detective Inspector Oskar Rheinhardt (Juergen Maurer) as they investigate a series of unusual and disturbing murders.

Max’s extraordinary skills of perception and psychology, and Oskar’s forceful tenacity, lead them to solve some of Vienna’s most mysterious and deadly cases.

The second series also stars the likes of Conleth Hill, Charlene McKenna, Amelia Bullmore, Lucy Griffiths, and Luise von Finckh.

When will Vienna Blood season two air?

The second series of Vienna Blood will air this winter on BBC Two in a three-part television event.

The BBC Press Office announced the return on Twitter:

Each episode will be 90 minutes long and is set in 1900s Vienna where philosophy, science and art are undergoing cultural changes, with different ideas clashing.
