Actor Vidya Balan, and her husband Siddharth Roy Kapur had plans to ring in 2016 as well as her 37th birthday on January 1, at a foreign location. However, she started experiencing back pain once she boarded the plane, and she had to be taken back to Mumbai and rushed to the hospital. She has been diagnosed with kidney stones.
“Vidya is recovering well. She is feeling better. Most probably she will get discharged by tomorrow,” a source said Thursday afternoon.
When we caught up with her a few days back, Vidya was more than excited to turn a year older. “Age is just a number. I’m a proud 37-year-old. I think I have done all that I wanted to, yet I have a lot of things to do. I have fared well for myself,” she said.
Vidya says as a kid her birthday was always a special occasion. “Our school would be shut on my birthday. A day later, I would take chocolates for the class. It was a tradition. I remember the best friends would get extra chocolates. We were allowed to wear coloured clothes. Looking back, that was the most special moment,” she said.
The actor says that she has always celebrated her birthday with her family. “I never partied on New Year’s, I always wanted to be with my parents. I’d emotionally blackmail my sister to be back by 12, no matter what,” she said.
Vidya is currently working on her next TE3N, alongside Amitabh Bachchan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
