TRICHY: Condemning the management of Periyar University in Salem for framing a question in one of the semester examinations asking students to name a ‘lower caste’ from the options given, VCK chief and Chidambaram MP Thol Thirumavalavan demanded resignation of the the vice-chancellor of university.
“Framing of the question is a deliberate move to impose and remind ‘lower caste’ thoughts among the students, and a despicable act from casteists and sanatanis. The government must take action against those involved,” Thirumavalavan said on Friday. The VCK MP was at Anganur village in Ariyalur district to commemorate his father’s death anniversary.
Reacting to the criticism over the national emblem recently unveiled at the new parliament building, Thirumavalavan said that the depiction of lions in the emblem in an aggressive manner against the peaceful posture of the previous emblem cannot be considered a mistake.
