Vidisha tragedy: Madhya Pradesh governor takes stock of rescue operations, talks to CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan

BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh governor Mangubhai Patel took note of the well tragedy in Vidisha district. He tweeted that that he is praying for peace of the departed soul and strength to the grieved family to bear the loss.

Governor also prayed for the speedy recovery of the ones injured in the incident.

The governor talked to chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Vidisha in charge minister Vishwas Sarang over phone and took account of the relief and rehabilitation work going on at the spot.

The governor also spoke to chief secretary, Iqbal Singh Bains and Vidisha district collector over phone and directed them to provide better treatment to the ones injured and to save as many lives as possible.

8. He is on a visit to New Delhi and met President Ram Nath Kovind at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Thursday and visited Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday.

At least three people died after about 30 villagers fell into a well during a rescue operation in Vidisha district on Thursday, the police said. Nineteen people have been rescued and rushed to a hospital and several were reported missing. The villagers reportedly fell into the well when they were trying to rescue a boy who had fallen in the well earlier. As per officials, the parapet wall around the well collapsed due to the weight of people who were trying to rescue the boy. The well is around 50 feet deep with a water level of about 20 feet.
