Manchester United have said that Nemanja Vidic will be out for just two to three weeks after suffering no major damage to his knee after falling awkwardly during United's match against Roma on Tuesday.
There had been initial fears that the Serbian centre-back could be out for the rest of the season. But after he had a scan on his knee yesterday a club spokesman said: "There is no major damage to the left knee, and he will be out for two to three weeks."
Vidic will miss the Premier League matches against Middlesbrough and Arsenal and next week's Champions League quarter-final second leg tie with Roma.
He should be back to face Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park on Saturday April 19, and will hope to play should United reach the Champions League semi-finals later this month.
