Videos show severity of Storm Dennis damage to rail network affecting services out of Glasgow

Storm Dennis swept across the country yesterday, bringing with it a deluge of rain and high winds that caused disruption to the road and rail network in and around Glasgow.

Train services have been cancelled between Paisley Gilmour Street and Gourock / Wemyss Bay, with replacement buses in operation, as a result of the storm.

Network Rail Scotland have since shared videos showing a torrent of water rushing from an aqueduct in the Bishopton area on to the 25,000 volt overhead power lines.

The videos illustrating the severity of the storm comes after Low Level services at Glasgow Central Station were suspended yesterday evening, with Scotrail advising rail users not to travel in the West Of Scotland due to the severity of the disruption.

Services on the Gourock and Wemyss Bay routes have been suspended since Saturday afternoon with disruption is expected to continue all day on today (Sunday February 16).

Ticket Acceptance is in operation with McGills buses at Paisley Gilmour Street, Paisley St James, Bishopton, Woodhall, Port Glasgow, Bogston, Cartsdyke, Greenock Central, Greenock West, Fort Matilda, Gourock, Inverkip and Wemyss Bay.
