NEW DELHI: Even as the Sports Authority of India (SAI) is yet to make the report public into the incident involving top gymnast Aruna Budda Reddy who had alleged that she was videographed during a physical fitness test at the national camp, the SAI has cancelled the deputation of the accused chief coach at its National Centre of Excellence (NCoE) in Delhi and has repatriated him to his parent cadre with immediate effect on administrative grounds.
The SAI's action came two days after Aruna met the sports body's director general (DG), Sandip Pradhan, in his office on Tuesday to discuss the matter. In an office order issued on June 3 0 by the S AI's coaching division, it informed: "Rohit Jaiswal, gymnastics coach working on deputation in SAI, IG stadium sports complex, New Delhi, is repatriated to his parent organisation Border Security Force on administrative reasons with immediate effect."
A copy of the order is with TOI. Aruna, the first Indian gymnast to clinch an individual medal at the Gymnastics World Cup, had alleged in her complaint to the SAI that she was videographed by one of Jaiswal's trainees on his behest during her fitness test at the IGI stadium here on March 24, 2022.
It's been learnt that the three-member S AI's inquiry committee has concluded its investigation and the report could be made public in coming days.
GFI president Sudhir Mittal and secretary general, Shanti Kumar, weren't available to comment on Jaiswal's repatriation to his parent organisation.
Aruna expressed happiness over the development and said that she would be approaching the sport's global governing body's (FIG) Gymnastics Ethics Foundation (GEF) to highlight 'malpractices' in the GFI.
"I am really thankful to the SAI and its DG for taking this action. Since the start of my career, I have faced so much discrimination at the hands of the GFI. I want to clean the system," she told TOI.
