ABU DHABI – At Thursday’s UFC 242 media day, the fighters from the majority of the card came together to face off for the first time during fight week.
That included headliners Khabib Nurmagomedov (27-0 MMA, 11-0 UFC) and Dustin Poirier (25-5 MMA, 17-4 UFC), who fight to unify the UFC lightweight championship atop the card, which takes place at The Arena in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FX and ESPN+/UFC Fight Pass.
Things were relatively tame across the board, with all the athletes showing respect for one another as they participated in staredowns in front of the media. But the meaning of the contests certainly wasn’t lessened by the like of theatrics.
