The Bengals are benching ninth-year quarterback Andy Dalton for rookie Ryan Finley. NFL Network reported the news on Dalton’s 32nd birthday.
Cincinnati is 0-8 entering its bye week. In eight starts, Dalton has completed 204 of 338 pass attempts for eight touchdowns and nine interceptions this season.
The rookie, Finley, was selected in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft out of NC State.
With the Wolfpack, Finley finished three seasons as started with a 64.5% completion mark, which is the best in school history topping fellow NFL quarterbacks Phillip Rivers, Jacoby Brissett, and Russell Wilson.
The Bengals return to the field in Week 10 as they host the Ravens (5-2) Sunday, Nov. 10.
