Video shows the moment two Haydon Bridge ram-raiders tried to pull ATM from Co-op wall with tractor

Footage has emerged of an attempted raid of an ATM at a Co-op store in Northumberland.

The video, which was taken by a member of the public above the store, shows the two suspects fleeing the scene after they attempted to pull an ATM from the wall of a shop using a tractor.

The hooded individuals are shown attempting to organise the heist with the two clearly seen remonstrating with each other before making an impromptu exit from the scene upon the sounding of the alarm.

The alarm at a Co-op store in Ratcliffe Road in Haydon Bridge was activated at around 4.50am on Thursday morning.

The suspects then made off leaving the tractor at the scene after being unsuccessful with their attempt.

Shortly after, Northumbria Police received calls from members of the public who reported that suspects were attempting to pull an ATM from the wall of the shop using a tractor.

Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the police.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “Shortly before 4.50am today (Thursday) an alarm was activated at the Co-Op store on Ratcliffe Road in Haydon Bridge.

“A number of calls have followed from members of the public reporting a tractor attempting to pull the ATM from the wall.

“The suspects have made off leaving a tractor, believed to be stolen, at the scene after being unsuccessful in their attempt.

“Enquires are on-going and anyone with information is asked to contact police online or by calling 101 and quoting reference NP-20211014-0103.”
