Video shows the moment England fans went wild in Trafford as the goals flew in against Germany

This was the moment England fans went wild as the goals flew in against Germany tonight.

The Three Lions made history with their 2-0 win at Wembley to secure a place in the quarter-finals of Euro 2020.

It was a moment to savour after decades of coming up short against one of their biggest rivals in football.

And after months of watching on their own, it was pure ecstasy for fans finally able to celebrate together.

While some coronavirus restrictions remain in place, pubs and bars were expecting their biggest day of the year so far.

At EventCity in Stretford hundreds of England supporters were able to sit outside in groups of six and watch the game on a big screen.

And the warm, sunny evening was made all the more sweet with a result that will live long in the memory.

After a dull first-half display, England came alive in the second half with goals from Raheem Sterling and Harry Kane.

And while England required some heroics from keeper Jordan Pickford, and some wayward shooting from the Germans, they held on for a famous victory.

The Manchester Evening News was watching on in Trafford and we captured pandemonium when the goals went in.

Fans cheered wildly, beer was flying in the air, and the chants of 'football's coming home' began in earnest.

By the end of the game, some fans had abandoned all pretence of social distancing and were jumping around together.

But after so many months of having to stop themselves having this kind of fun, who can blame them?

England will take on either Sweden or Slovakia for a place in the semi-finals on Saturday.
