Video shows scene of late night 'petrol bomb' attacks in Drogheda, Co Louth

Gardai are investigating after two suspected petrol bomb attacks in Drogheda overnight.

Footage shows smoke billowing from a property in the Moneymore area of the town as emergency services tackle the blaze.

The first attack took place at around 11.30pm on Thursday, and caused "significant" damage to the premises.

There was nobody inside the property at the time of the incident and no injuries have been reported.

A garda spokesman said: "Gardaí are investigating an incident of criminal damage by fire that occurred at approximately 11.30pm on June 20, 2019 at a premises in Moneymore, Drogheda.

"There was significant damage to the property during the incident.

"There were no occupants in the premises at the time of the incident and no injuries were reported.

"No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing."

A second attack took place 10 minutes later at a separate premises in Moneymore, with damage caused to the front door of the property.

Nobody was injured in the incident.

A garda spokesman added: "Gardaí are investigating an incident of criminal damage by fire that occurred at approximately 11.40pm on June 20, 2019 at a premises in Moneymore, Drogheda.

"There was damage to the front door of the premises following the incident.

"No injuries were reported. No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing."
