Dramatic video footage shows gardai chasing a sulky in a Dublin suburb on Tuesday night.
The incident happened on Belcamp Avenue in Darndale, North Dublin, and shows a garda car attempting to cut across in front of the horse before officers get out and chase the culprit on foot.
A man comes off the sulky before two gardai detain him on the ground while another garda chases the horse and cart attempting to bring it to a stop.
Two people are seen towards the end of the clip running over to the area.
The person filming the footage can be heard laughing: "Into the West eat your heart out."
Another person can be heard shouting "That's terrible" before expressing concern for the horse.
A spokesperson for An Garda Siochana told Dublin Live they had no records relating to an incident at this moment in time.
