Video shows "massive queues of young people" waiting to vote in Leeds

A video filmed in Leeds tonight shows "massive queues of young people" waiting to vote.

The footage shows a huge queue of voters stretching hundreds of metres from Leeds Minster polling station in Leeds city centre.

Leeds Central constituency - which the polling station serves - has historically provided the lowest voter turnout in Leeds.

It comes after polling station queues of 45 minutes filled with young people were snapped earlier today in the city.

Unite the union, north east, Yorkshire and the Humber branch, posted the video tonight.

They wrote in a tweet (SIC): "Massive queues of young people waiting to vote in #Leeds right now #votelabour #ItsOurTime".

The video comes as Ipsos Mori published a poll predicting the Conservatives were set to win the 2019 General Election.

Results showed Boris Johnson was ahead of Jeremy Corbyn when it came to who the public thought would be the most capable Prime Minister.

More than two-in-five think Mr Johnson would be the most capable.

However young people preferred Mr Corbyn by 48 per cent to 27 per cent among 18-34-year-olds.
