Video shows man jump in front of moving car in north Dublin - and then casually walk away

A pedestrian was lucky to escape injury after jumping out in front of a moving car in north Dublin.

Remarkable dashcam footage shows the man walk on to the road and in front of a car, before hitting the bonnet and sliding back to his feet.

And despite the dangerous stunt, he appears to escape unharmed as he casually walks off as if nothing happened, Dublin Live reports.

The footage, which was taken on Santry Avenue, has gone viral over the past 24 hours and has been met with huge anger by those who suspect this might have been a botched attempt at getting an compensation payout.

Locals around North Dublin have been advised to be careful and keep an eye out for any suspected opportunists.

Last month it was revealed that the average cost of motor insurance in Ireland had risen by 42 percent over ten years.

This came despite a 2.5 percent decrease in individual claims and a 20 reduction in number of injury claims in total.

Last year gardai revealed that 3 percent of fraud investigations centre around bogus or exaggerated claims.

There were over 1,500 investigations conducted over 2019 while another study showed Ireland's courts are paying out way more than other countries when it comes to injury claims.

The average soft-tissue injury payout is just under €20,000 - four times more than the UK average.
