Video shows makeshift Syrian hospital destroyed by suspected 'Russian air strike'

Video has emerged showing the aftermath of a hospital destroyed by an airstrike in northern Syria.

The air strike took place at a makeshift hospital in Maaret al-Numan; a province located 280 km north of Damascus.

The footage shows clouds of smoke and urgent screams are audible.

Doctors Without Borders (MSF) say they are unable to verify the footage.

An MSF spokeswoman told the Independent: "We can confirm that an MSF-supported structure in Marat Al Numan in Idlib, northern Syria was destroyed this morning in air strikes. We are currently gathering more information about the attack but have nothing more to share as yet."

The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said Russian warplanes targeted the makeshift hospital, destroying it and killing and wounding dozens.

The airstrike comes after world powers agreed to a "cessation of hostilities" in Syria after talks in Munich.
