Video shows large crowds gathering and music playing in the Arboretum

This video shows large crowds of people gathering in a popular Nottingham park shortly before police officers descended to disperse them.

The Arboretum proved a popular spot on the afternoon of Saturday, February 27, as the sun came out and the warmer temperatures gave a hint that Spring was around the corner.

Currently, lockdown restrictions prohibit gatherings of more than one household indoors or outdoors, although a single person living alone can meet with one other outside for exercise.

The Government says people must only leave their homes if they have a "reasonable excuse" to do so, and police may take action and fine those who do not comply.

Fines can be issued as a last resort, and these start off at £200 for the first offence, before gradually increasing to a maximum of £6,400.

Reasonable excuses include leaving home for work, exercise, shopping, volunteering and for worship, the name a few.

Music could be heard and rubbish was left strewn across the grass throughout the afternoon.

Few people were seen wearing face masks too.

Just before 5pm Nottinghamshire Police attended to disperse some of the larger crowds, leading to a much quieter scene afterwards.
