Video shows huge leak pouring through ceiling of Leeds General Infirmary

Video footage from Leeds General Infirmary shows a large amount of water pouring through the ceiling after a pipe burst.

The incident, which occurred sometime before 9pm, was confined to a reception and waiting room, which had to be temporarily relocated.

A spokesperson for Leeds Teaching Hospitals said water was turned off for 20 minutes and reassured the public there was no danger to patients or staff.

They added that one cold water pipe burst, which was only being used for cold drinking water, and hot water was not affected.

According to an eyewitness, bottled water was handed out and washing areas were set up for staff following the leak on the Jubilee Wing.

The Leeds Teaching Hospitals spokesperson confirmed the situation has now been dealt with and a clean-up operation is underway.

They said: "One pipe has burst which only affected cold drinking water. Hot water needed for clinical care was not affected by the leak

"Water was turned off for 20 minutes and there was no danger to staff or patients.
