Video shows huge brazen rats scurrying in Scotstoun's Victoria Park in broad daylight

A Glasgow man has filmed footage of huge rats in a Glasgow park unfazed by passers by in broad daylight.

Shaun Toner filmed the creatures at the side of the pond in Victoria Park in Scotstoun.

One video shows a group of rats scurrying on the walkway bridge over the pond.

It is very bright and the camera pans to show people enjoying the sunshine on benches at the other side of the pond.

Another video shows the rats underneath the bridge, before one jumps up and runs across the bridge.

When Shaun walks up to the rats onto the bridge, they only disperse when he bangs his hand on the side of the bridge to make a racket.

He said "we decided not to walk that way, as they didn't even run away".

"I was just shocked to see them so brazenly walking around like they were out for a stroll.

"Not once did they even flinch when approached.

"My concern was for the amount of children in the park who may not know to stay away..."

Glasgow City Council says that pest control has made an "intervention" in the park.

A spokesman said: “Our pest control team has undertaken an intervention in the park and continues to monitor the situation closely.”
