Video shows horrific moment thug smashes through protective screen at Heywood take-away

This is the moment a thug punched a protective screen in front of terrified staff at a take-away in Heywood.

The violent outburst took place at Summit Chippy, on Bury New Road at around 8pm on Saturday, May 30.

Video footage shows a man punching through a Perspex protective screen several times.

Staff behind the counter can be heard shouting in alarm during the incident.

Police are now investigating and are still looking for the man. No arrests have been made.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said it is not being treated as a racially aggravated incident.

A statement released by the force said: "At 8.05pm on Saturday 30 May 2020, police were called to reports of criminal damage at a business premises on Bury New Road, Heywood.

"Officers attended. An investigation is underway.

"No arrests have been made."

Staff at Summit Chippy did not wish to comment on the incident.
