Video shows firefighters working to tackle flames as they engulf BMW

This video shows firefighters working to put out a car fire in Sneinton Dale.

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service was called to the city suburb alongside the police and paramedics after a BMW caught fire at around 7.59pm on Wednesday, August 12.

Cal James, a local resident who was at the scene at the time, says two fire engines, a police car and an ambulance attended the incident.

He said: "At first, when I noticed the smoke from a distance, I thought someone was having a bonfire.

"When I came closer and saw it, it was unbelievable."

A video captured from the scene shows smoke and flames rising from the front of the vehicle while firefighters use a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.

A man suffered burns during the incident.

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service added: "Carlton Station and London Road Station used two breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet and a thermal imaging camera to extinguish a vehicle fire off Sneinton Dale.

"One male suffering burns was left in the hands of East Midlands Ambulance Service."
