Video shows extreme flooding on Glasgow Queen Street to Edinburgh line as trains in chaos this morning

Lines between Glasgow Queen Street and Edinburgh remain affected by flooding as Network Rail work hard to clear the track at Winchburgh.

As reported on Glasgow Live, extreme flooding last night has caused mass disruption on the train network, with services between here and the capital only able to run to Linlithgow and Falkirk Grahamston (although the longer Glasgow Central service remains in operation).

Network Rail has shared video footage of the damage on Twitter, apologising for the disruption, which is expected to last until noon today.

The message reads: “We would like to apologise to everyone caught up in the disruption caused by flooding at Winchburgh last night and this morning.

“Sheer volume of rainfall in a short period overwhelmed drainage with 60% of August rainfall total falling in just a few hours in some areas.”

Passengers are advised to use alternative services where they can, including the Queen Street lower level train via Airdrie and the Central train via Shotts.

Replacement buses are also running beyond Linlithgow towards Edinburgh.
