Video shows extent of Sighthill school blaze as fire crews remain on scene

Firefighters are continuing to battle a huge blaze which has taken over a school in the north of Glasgow.

Fire crews raced to the scene at St Stephen's Primary School in Sighthill shortly after 7pm this evening.

Video captured by local eyewitnesses and sent to Glasgow Live shows the extent of the 'well-developed' fire, with flames and smoke seen billowing from the building.

At last update, six separate fire appliances were at Pinkston Drive in a bid to tackle the flames stemming from the derelict school. Locals earlier feared the blaze was at a new school in the nearby area.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed to Glasgow Live: "We are currently in attendance at a building fire on Pinkston Drive, Glasgow.

“Six appliances were mobilised to the scene after the alarm was raised at 7.03pm, and crews continue to tackle a well-developed fire within a derelict building."
