Video shows Baltimore school cop slapping and kicking student

The head cop of Baltimore City Schools and two officers have been placed on administrative leave after video showed him slapping and kicking a young man.

Baltimore Police Department's special investigation unit launched a criminal investigation after the footage went viral.

Marshall Goodwin, Baltimore City School police chief, was later identified as the officer in the video.

Chief School Supports Officer Karl Perry said that the young man in the video is not a student at the Reach! Partnership School and did not have permission to be on school property.

Still, Officer Perry said that he was appalled by the footage.

“I’m a parent, and I’m totally appalled at what I saw in that video,” he told WJZ-TV. “No matter what the circumstances are, I am totally appalled.”

Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake condemned the officer’s actions in a statement on Wednesday morning.

“The behavior that was demonstrated on the video, you never want to see anyone treated like that,” she said. “It certainly is not helpful as we work to build bridges of trust to see that level of mistreatment.”
