Video: Short notice no weighty issue for Jorge Masvidal at UFC 251

ABU DHABI – Jorge Masvidal took his first UFC title fight on short notice as a COVID-19 replacement, but any concerns about him making weight were put to rest Friday.

Jorge Masvidal (35-13 MMA, 12-6 UFC) hit 170 pounds on the button when he weighed in for his welterweight title bout against champion Kamaru Usman (16-1 MMA, 11-0 UFC). Usman was 170 pounds, as well.

If Masvidal is able to upset Usman, who is more than a 2-1 favorite, he will become a UFC champion in his 49th career fight, eclipsing the record held by Dave Menne, who won a UFC belt in his 40th career bout.

Masvidal and Usman meet in the main event on the UFC 251 main card Saturday at Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on ESPN and early prelims on UFC Fight Pass/ESPN+.

Check out the headliners making their weights official in the video above.
