VIDEO: Russell Westbrook gets a kick out of a Kevin Durant joke at a comedy show

The first time Russell Westbrook was seen in public after he was traded to the Houston Rockets for Chris Paul, he was attending the “Why Not” comedy show, an annual event he hosted in Oklahoma City for local comedians.

This year, one of the comedians was Lance Woods, who got on stage and told a pretty clever Kevin Durant joke. When KD was first mentioned, he received some boos from the pro-Thunder crowd, but once the punchline landed, you could hear a roar of laughter.

Among those laughing? Westbrook, who you get a glimpse at toward the end of the video, chuckling at the joke about his former teammate.

“Kevin Durant came by — this is how long ago this was, many years ago — so KD came by. So now we all talking. So it was me, Russ and KD. And Russ was like, ‘When’s your next show?’ And I said, ‘I’m gonna be in the Bay Area soon.’ And KD said, ‘Me too!’

“We didn’t know what he meant at the time.”

Durant leaving for the Warriors was a sore spot for quite some time in Oklahoma City, and still is in some parts of town, so you can see why it worked so well for this audience.

Westbrook is finally leaving the city, but it won’t quite be on the bad terms that Durant left on.
