Video released showing inside former station under Nottingham street

Video footage has been released showing inside a Nottingham tunnel that closed to the public more than 50 years ago. The Victoria Tunnel, also known as the Thurland Street Tunnel, was built in 1890s and used to serve the Victoria Station until it was closed in 1967.

Despite the station closing, the tunnel continued to be used as a headshunt by trains serving the plasterboard works at Rushcliffe and the Army Depot in Ruddington. The tunnel officially closed in 1974.

The video clip, taken by 'urban explorers, delivers a sneak peek inside the tunnel, including a look at the northern and southern portals. Although the video shows off the amazing underground snaps, it is important to note that these explorations are not legal and it is strongly encouraged that others do not attempt to emulate this.
