Video released of men believed to be involved in carjacking

Security camera footage has been released showing three men believed to be involved in a carjacking in Holt last month.

CCTV footage has captured the moments before the owner of a red Jeep Wrangler and his passenger were threatened with a weapon and two men stole the car.

The men have been captured on video at the Kippax shops at about 7.30pm on May 22, when the Jeep was stolen.

The Jeep has since been recovered after police identified the vehicle and attempted to intercept it in Holt at about 1.45pm the following day.

The driver of the stolen vehicle crashed it into a bus shelter on Starke Street while being pursued.

Two men fled the scene in different directions and police were unable to apprehend the men at the time.

ACT Policing have released the footage provided by Kippax shop businesses in an attempt to identify the three men in the area at the time.

The incident was one of two carjackings in Belconnen in 24 hours. A man has been arrested over a theft at Belconnen Tennis Club which took place the following evening. Police do not believe they are related.

Police are requesting anyone who can help identify any of the men or who may have witnessed the incident and have not yet spoken to police, to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website.
