Video reaction: What to make of Jon Jones’ latest arrest and what comes next

UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones found himself associated with legal trouble again Thursday when he was arrested in the wee hours of the morning in his hometown of Albuquerque, N.M. Jones faces multiple charges, including driving under the influence and negligent use of a firearm, among others, after police said they found an intoxicated Jones in his running car with a loaded gun (missing one round) and an open bottle of alcohol.

Unfortunately for Jones (26-1 MMA, 20-1 UFC), who is coming off a successful defense of his belt against Dominick Reyes at UFC 247 in February, this issue is not an outlier. Instead, it’s the continuation of a common thread in his life over the past half-decade.

After a relatively smooth 2019 and solid start to this year, it seemed as though Jones’ battle against poor decision-making had taken a turn for the better. The latest alleged incident casts significant doubt over Jones, who, at 32, is no longer the innocent young man who quickly ran into fortune and fame after becoming the youngest champion in UFC history.

What does this latest legal mishap mean for Jones in the present and in the future? MMA Junkie reporters Danny Segura, Nolan King and Mike Bohn break it down from all angles in the video above.
