TMZ has obtained the video of former Seattle Seahawks draft pick Malik McDowell’s recent altercation with Michigan police.
In February, McDowell was stopped in Lathrup Village on suspicion of driving under the influence. McDowell left his vehicle and entered a nearby gas station convenience store, where a struggle ensued with the arresting officers.
The officer repeatedly warns McDowell to stand down or else he would be tased. Once McDowell’s on the ground, the officer instructs him to get on his stomach, but the NFL player refuses . . . so the cop deploys his taser.
That’s when McDowell rips out the prongs — while he’s being tased — and attacks the officer.The two wrestle around the store until backup officers eventually arrive and help take McDowell into custody. At one point during the struggle, McDowell tells the officer, ‘Don’t shoot me.’The backup officer, who helped subdue McDowell, later wrote in a police report that Malik ‘grabbed for my gun as I was trying to grab his arm.’
In May, McDowell was arraigned on two felony charges of assault and resisting arrest, and misdemeanor counts of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and driving on a suspended license.
He is scheduled to appear in court later this month.
McDowell was Seattle’s highest draft pick in 2017 but never played a snap on the field after getting into an ATV accident prior to training camp.
