The PFL playoffs’ third and final event takes place Thursday at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, where light heavyweight and heavyweight quarterfinal and semifinal fights are on booked. Two fighters in each division will advance to the finals for a shot at $1 million.
It was this point last year that first seed Emiliano Sordi was eliminated from the playoffs when he lost to Bozigit Ataev in the first round.
But this year has been a different story so far for Sordi (19-8 MMA, 3-1 PFL), who has not only taken out Vinny Magalhaes, but has avenged last year’s loss to Ataev by taking him out in the first round in August.
Sordi takes on Sigi Pesaleli in a light heavyweight bout in the quarterfinals, and a win would see him compete a second time in the same night to try to reach the final.
