Video: Does Anthony Johnson’s signing with Bellator make sense?

The MMA world was caught off guard Wednesday after news broke that former UFC standout Anthony Johnson has signed with Bellator.

Johnson, 36, a former two-time UFC light heavyweight title challenger, announced his intentions to fight again after retiring in April 2017. He had re-entered the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency testing pool in anticipation of a return to the octagon specifically but instead will compete for Bellator after mutually agreeing to part ways with the UFC.

Johnson’s exit from the UFC comes on the heels of promotion president Dana White teasing “some serious” roster cuts – in the neighborhood of 60 – would occur in the coming weeks.

With Johnson making the move to Bellator, MMA Junkie senior reporter Mike Bohn and reporter Danny Segura react to the news, answering if the pickup makes sense for Bellator and what could come next for him.

You can watch that in the video above.
