Video: DeMarcus Cousins got up shots during Warriors shoot around

It’s been quite the season for Warriors center DeMarcus Cousins. For the first half of the season, Cousins spent all of his time going through a grueling rehab process for his torn Achilles. Cousins returned to the floor in late January and struggled a bit with his timing and stamina. After a couple of months, Cousins was starting to look like his former self, running the floor, dominating on the inside and generally fitting within the Warriors offensive scheme.

There were concerns about his ability to defend pick and roll sets, but considering what he had just gone through, his return to basketball was a success. So much so that both Cousins and the entire Warriors organization were happy with him joining the team. He played in his first postseason game of his career — and then things came crumbling down again.

In Game 2 against the Los Angeles Clippers, Cousins went down with a torn quad which will likely have him sidelined for the remainder of the postseason. While there were reports that he could potentially return to the team should they make the Finals, that seems awfully unlikely.

Unlikely or not, it’s great seeing that Cousins was on the court with the team during shootaround before Game 2 of their second-round series with the Houston Rockets. Even though he wasn’t moving around a lot and that first shot was way off, the fact that he’s already shooting around is a good look for his ability to play next season.
