Video: Check out Drakkar Klose’s sick slam of Christos Giagos at UFC 241

ANAHEIM, Calif. — You wonder what was going through Drakkar Klose’s head was as he carried Christos Giagos on his shoulder during the third round of their entertaining preliminary-card scrap at UFC 241 on Saturday night.

Klose (11-1-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC) held Giagos (17-8 MMA, 3-4 UFC) aloft for a good, long time, building the buzz of anticipation among the crowd at Honda Center. It was as if Klose knew that if he simply fell backward, he’d drop Giagos straight on his head and cause perhaps a permanent injury.

Indeed, Klose shifted Giagos’ weight right before he made the plunge backward, and that led to one sensational slam, as Giagos tucked his head and landed on his shoulders and upper back.

It was the most memorable moment to that point in the evening’s festivities, and it might have been the difference in an exciting, back-and-forth affair that was an early contender for “Fight of the Night.” Klose won the bout via unanimous decision on scores of 29-28 across the board.
