Melvin Gordon and the Los Angeles Chargers don’t seem to be making much progress on his holdout situation. ESPN’s Josina Anderson reported Thursday that the running back’s agent, Damarius Bilbo, asked the Chargers for a trade last week after the team stood pat with their initial offer of about $10 million a year.
Gordon is seeking a new contract as he enters the final season of his rookie deal, a fifth-year option worth $5.6 million.
Biblo told Anderson that Chargers general manager Tom Telesco denied the trade request, saying Bilbo does not have permission to seek out trade partners.
