This is the moment a cyclist is almost knocked over by a careless driver switching lanes in Morningside.
In a video sent to Edinburgh Live , a car can be seen suddenly changing lanes at Holy Corner without checking behind it first, with the cyclist having to rapidly swerve out of the way of the vehicle.
In the footage the cyclist is travelling towards Holy Corner from Morningside Road before a driver in the right-hand lane next to him suddenly switches to turn left down Colinton Road.
The cyclist told Edinburgh Live : "I have watched the video many times and also returned to examine the location.
'The conclusion I have come to is that the car driver probably took a split second decision to turn left, possibly following the car in front. Who can say they haven't made similar snap decisions?"
A spokesperson for the City of Edinburgh Council said: "We would expect all drivers to take care at junctions and to drive responsibly to ensure the safety of people cycling and other vulnerable road users. Driving without due care and attention is an offence which may include a fine, points on licence or disqualification from driving.”
