Dramatic video footage captures the moment a car was engulfed in flames in an early morning suspected arson attack in the Everton area.
Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service and police were called to Breckfield Road South at around 6am today to reports of a Ford Focus on fire.
The car was taken away and fortunately nobody was injured and now police are carrying out CCTV and forensic enquiries.
The blaze took place a few hours after two arson attacks on parked cars in Anfield .
One of the attacks led to flames lapping close to where two children were sleeping and their mum had to rescue them from danger.
Martine Griffiths rushed into her kids' bedrooms to bring her two young sons - Rhys, 12 and Paris, nine - to a place of safety when she realised flames from the fierce blaze outside her home in Anfield were almost reaching as high as the upstairs window.
Following the attack the mum called out those responsible branding them "proper little rats".
Merseyside Police do not believe the arson attacks are linked, however are urging anyone with any information to come forward.
Detective Inspector Sean Kelly-Martland said: "We would like to speak to anyone who saw this incident, whether you saw anyone acting suspiciously before or making off after.
"Your home CCTV or dashcam footage may be vital to getting to the bottom of what happened.
"Although not being linked to earlier incidents in Anfield, we understand the community's concern at cars being set alight in the area and would like assure them that all information will be acted on to find the person/s responsible and take action."
