Video captures dramatic moment thundersnow lights up night sky

We've certainly had our fair share of wild weather at the start of this year, Glasgow.

We're pretty sure we've had every Met Office warning under the sun, come rain, hail or sleet.

And there was a weather warning in place until 10am today, with snow seen in and around Glasgow for many when we drew open the curtains this morning.

But some in the Greater Glasgow area may have had a rude awakening at around 2.30am, as thundersnow lit up the night sky, giving it that eerie apocalyptic feel.

Gordon Stewart caught the scene on camera above his Hamilton home and sent the video into Glasgow Live saying: "A wee bit of Thundersnow in Hamilton just after 2:30 am!".

"And look how light the sky is!! Actually thought someone had left a light on out the back!"

The Met Office predict that's the end of the snow - for now. Believe it or not, after a spell of heavy rain, we might actually see sunshine for what feels like the first time in quite a while.
