Video: BMW gets run over by 4x4 after sneaky manoeuvre goes spectacularly wrong

A motorist gave a whole new meaning to 'off-road driving' when his 4x4 was filmed mounting the bonnet of an oncoming car - leaving it suspended precariously in the air.

James Christmas was pulling off his driveway in Dagenham, East London, early in the morning of May 5 when he and the Honda CR-V ES AUTO joined a main road at the same time, blocking one lane as they came to a standstill.

But the 32-year-old watched in astonishment as a cheeky BMW driver tried to squeeze past him on the wrong side of the road before being met head-on by the now-moving 4x4.

Bizarre footage captures the black Honda as it continues to accelerate into the silver BMW, riding its left wheel over its bumper and driving up and onto the bonnet - at hilariously slow speed.

The wheel then falls off the car's side leaving the 21-year-old 4x4 balancing on two wheels 5ft in the air as its driver looks down sheepishly at the vehicle he'd just mounted.

James has since found the incident hilarious and claims it's 'a great advertisement for Honda CRVs' considering how it dealt effortlessly with the unusual terrain of another car's bonnet.

James, a property surface repair worker, said: "It brought a new meaning to off-road anyway. The 4x4 just bashed into it and then kept accelerating so it ended up driving over the silver car.

"It wasn't even a high-speed impact. There was no sound. Then it was stuck and just couldn't move. The two people in it had to crawl out of the passenger side.

"It was early in the morning, so it was quite a drowsy incident. They definitely hadn't had their Weetabix. I put [the video] in the work WhatsApp and they had a good laugh about it.

"I've never seen anything happen on that road, so it was completely unexpected. I didn't really know what to think. It was definitely an entertaining start to the day.

"I didn't hang around for too long. I checked everyone was okay and left. They swapped details, but everyone was calm and there weren't any arguments.

"It's a good sales pitch for Honda because [the car] managed to climb over easily. It was so weird how it went right over. I thought 'what's going on here then?'.

"It's such a crazy thing to happen on your doorstep just as I was going to work. I was shocked at the time but now I find it funny. I'm sure the other parties don't though."
