Video: Aslan perform their newest single live while socially distancing at Dublin Port

Aslan fans were in for a treat after the music legends put on a live show online after three months of being apart.

The famed Dublin band came together for the first time since lockdown and secretly recorded a video in Dublin Port for their brand new single which was live streamed to thousands of adoring fans.

Their new single “Hold On” is set to release on June 17 and is being described as “the perfect tribute for the times we are in”.

The band were due to release the single earlier this year but couldn’t due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Aslan said on their Facebook page: “We haven't been together in 3 months...but we had to do this…”

Fans were overjoyed to see the five perform after months while observing social distance.

One person said: “Fabulous song & what a special time to release this so many people trying to hold on in everyday living and others fighting for their lives! #HOLD ON

“Love these guys.”

Another happy fan said: “Absolutely amazing. Love the location. Well done, lads. Best of luck with your treatment, Christy.”

Hold On is available to pre-order on iTunes and Google Play from June 10.

Aslan star Christy Dignam has revealed he is receiving chemotherapy once again in his battle against a rare form of blood cancer.

Christy, who recently turned 60, was diagnosed with amyloidosis, an incurable form of cancer, in 2013.

He had been receiving treatment in London for the condition but has been able to fly over there since the coronavirus outbreak.

"I’m back on chemo now, because I wasn’t attending hospital," he told PJ and Jim on Classic Hits.

"So, I do go over to London to attend the Royal Free over there, so because I wasn’t doing that, the cancer creeps up again in the meantime and I wasn’t really being monitored.

"It affects my heart and I noticed when I was walking, I couldn’t walk that fast and my breath started going, so I rang the consultant and he said hold on and I’ll look at the computer, because I’ve been giving bloods regularly.....he said come on in tomorrow at 9 o’clock and when he said that I knew there was something wrong. So they started me on chemo again.”
