Vidarbha under-25 side go down to J&K

NAGPUR: Though opener Aman Mokhade and No.3 Yash Rathod were involved in a handsome 139-run partnership for the second wicket, Vidarbha could not post a defendable total and face a defeat at the hands of Jammu and Kashmir in under-25 state-A Trophy in Rajkot on Wednesday.

Batting first, Vidarbha made 244 for 8 in 50 overs after Aman (89) and Yash (49) gave a desired start. The middle-order could not capitalize on the century partnership and Vidarbha lost the plot. Wicketkeeper Aniket Pande (51 not out) did well to quick runs after a collapse.

In reply, Jammu and Kashmir crawled and reached the target scoring 248 for 7 in 49.5 overs. Vidarbha's left-arm spinner Aditya Khilote (4-32) and Prerit Agrawal (3-49) not only choked runs but also took key wickets. However, when the rivals needed 5 runs in the last over, which was bowled by Prerit, Jammu and Kashmir easily scored with a ball to spare.

BRIEF SCORES: Vidarbha 244 for 8 in 50 overs (Aman Mokhade 89, Aniket Pande 51 n.o, Yash Rathod 49; Vanshaj Sharma 4-48, Lone Mazaffar 2-30, Taizeem Younis Tak 2-46) lost to J&K 248 for 7 in 49.5 overs (Jiyaad Magrey 59, Dikshant Kundal 45; Aditya Khilote 4-32, Prerit Agrawal 3-49) by 3 wickets
