Victorian woman charged over Hobart Airport bomb threat remark released on bail

Richelle Penny will return to the Hobart Magistrates Court in Feburary.

A woman accused of making a false bomb threat at Hobart Airport has been granted bail.

Richelle Marissa Penny, of Knoxfield in Victoria, appeared in an out-of-hours session at the Hobart Magistrates Court on Saturday morning.

The 42-year-old was arrested on Friday after allegedly making remarks at a Virgin Airlines check-in counter about having an explosive device in her luggage.

She was allowed through security screening after making the alleged comments and had boarded the aircraft before security staff removed her from the plane.

The Hobart to Melbourne flight was delayed for an hour.

Ms Penny was ordered to return to court on February 7.
