Victorian police have charged a man with murder over the disappearance of Epping woman Ju 'Kelly' Zhang.

A 35-year-old Doncaster man has been charged with one count of murder and was due to face Melbourne Magistrates Court on Friday.

The man was arrested by police at Melbourne Airport about 6:15pm on Wednesday night.

Detectives from the Missing Persons Squad along with police from the Search and Rescue Squad held a search of the Darebin Creek Reserve in Ivanhoe West today as part of the investigation.

Ms Zhang, 33, was last seen at her home in Melbourne's north, on the evening of Monday, February 1.

She was wearing a pink pyjama top and shorts and was barefoot at the time.

Police had earlier said her disappearance was extremely out of character and they held grave concerns for her welfare.

Police appealed for anyone with information or CCTV vision from the day Ms Zhang went missing to contact Crime Stoppers.
