The Victorian government has committed $46.9 million to increasing capacity and improving learning spaces at 127 kindergartens across the state.
Early childhood minister Ingrid Stitt on Monday announced the funding would create nearly 2,200 funded kindergarten places across 32 local government areas.
It will provide seven new early learning facilities, five new integrated children's centres, three modular buildings and 20 building expansions, Ms Stitt said.
The funding would also allow for more than 90 kindergartens to benefit from upgrades to outdoor play spaces, landscaping improvements and bathroom refurbishments.
"Creating more places for children to attend kindergarten and ensuring they can access the best facilities across Victoria is vital to ensuring a world-class education in the early years," Ms Stitt said in a statement.
"The evidence is clear that two years are better than one when it comes to early learning, which is why we are investing millions across Victoria to ensure every child has a place."
Ms Stitt said the Newport Gardens Early Years Centre, in Melbourne's west, will receive a $600,000 grant to expand its early childhood facility, creating an extra 33 places.
