Victorian elegance on The Hill | Property of the Week

Images supplied

It is an admired property in one of Newcastle's most prestigious locations and attracted plenty of out-of-town and local interest when it sold for $3.825 million last year within three weeks of hitting the market.

Now the gorgeous Victorian Italianate residence overlooking King Edward Park at 30 The Terrace on The Hill has been listed by Jesse Wilton and Mark Kentwell, of PRDnationwide Newcastle Lake Macquarie, with a guide of $3.7 million to $4 million and enquiry has already been strong again.

"We've been flooded with interest, local and from Sydney," Mr Wilton said. "It's been very well received.

"It's probably the most liveable layout in one of the best streets in Newcastle - that's what's drawn the interest. It is highly functional and has new world charm on the old frame."

Built circa 1880, the home has a commanding street presence with a wide gabled facade and lacework verandah.

Inside, it has been strikingly renovated to offer a spacious two-level layout. Features include a reception hall with corbelled arch, ornate ceilings, timber floors, an American oak timber staircase and marble fireplaces.

There are formal and informal dining and living spaces, an outdoor paved entertaining area, four spacious bedrooms and three bathrooms. An electric gated driveway leads to converted stables now offering garaging and storage.

It is walking distance to Newcastle beach and ocean baths, Anzac Memorial walk, schools plus Darby Street cafes and restaurants.

The property is set for an in-room auction at The Arc on November 13 and will be open Thursdays 5.30pm to 6pm and Saturdays 11am to 12pm throughout the campaign.
