Victoria has recorded 149 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.
Sadly, 24 people have died of coronavirus-related causes in that time.
The 24 deaths recorded is the state's second-highest single day toll since the start of the pandemic. The only other day with more coronavirus deaths recorded was August 17, when there were 25.
The Department of Health and Human Services released the information this morning and Dan Andrews is expected to address the state later today.
On Tuesday, Victoria reported 148 cases following on from Monday's tally of 116 new cases, which was the state's lowest daily tally since early July.
Meanwhile, NSW Police have relocated 366 people quarantined in a Sydney hotel to "more suitable" accommodation after it failed to comply with COVID-19 health and safety standards.
An audit of a Travelodge Hotel in Surry Hills uncovered the deficiencies, with police making the decision to relocate the returned travellers to more suitable accommodation at various hotels across the city.
