Victorian Police Minister Lisa Neville, who is also responsible for COVID-19 quarantine, has returned to work after recovering from surgery for Crohn's disease.

Ms Neville underwent surgery in February but complications kept her on leave for months.

Premier Daniel Andrews confirmed her return on Monday.

"Lisa has shown enormous strength and resilience through her recovery from surgery and treatment for Crohn's disease, and I know how determined she has been to return to work," he said in a statement.

She will continue as minister for water as well as police and coordinating minister of the department of environment, land, water and planning.

Ms Neville also retains responsibility for COVID-19 Quarantine Victoria (CQV).

However, Attorney-General Jaclyn Symes will take over as Minister for Emergency Services including disaster recovery work with Bushfire Recovery Victoria and continue supporting communities recently affected by storms and flooding.
