Victoria Park partly taped off by police after body found

Police are investigating after a body was found in Victoria Park in east London.

Officers were called to a wooded area in the popular green space, near to the Gore Road Gate, shortly after 10am on Saturday. They were called there by the local council which Victoria Park.

A body was found at the scene.

Police were on Sunday still working to identify the deceased person, and notify their next of kin.

“At this stage the death is being treated as unexplained,” said a Met police spokesperson.

“A crime scene has been set up in an area of the park while the circumstances are investigated.

“At this early stage, there have been no arrests.”

The rest of the park remained open to members of the public.
