Victoria line suspended as person killed by train in central London

A person has died after being hit by a Victoria line train at a central London Underground station.

British Transport Police was called to Green Park at 3.50pm following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

Paramedics and London’s Air Ambulance also attended and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner.

The Victoria line is currently experiencing severe delays with no service between Warren Street and Brixton.

In unrelated issues, the Bakerloo, District and Piccadilly lines also have delays adding to commuter misery.

Tickets are being accepted on London Bus, the Weaver Line, Suffragette Line, Great Northern, Thameslink, Greater Anglia, South Western Railway, and Southeastern services.

A London Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 3.50pm today, November 25, to reports of a person hit by a train at Green Park Underground Station, W1J.

“We sent an ambulance crew, a paramedic in a fast response car, an incident response officer and our Hazardous Area Response Team to the scene.

“We also dispatched a trauma team in a car from London’s Air Ambulance.

“Sadly, a person died at the scene.”

Transport for London has warned passengers: “Victoria Line: No service between Warren Street and Brixton and SEVERE DELAYS on the rest of the line while the emergency services deal with a casualty on the track.”
